Tips on How to Protect your Pool Covers

Swimming pool covers are very important in taking care of your swimming pool. These pool covers do not just provide cleanliness in your pool while it is not in use but they also keep you and your loved ones safe from any accident that a closed pool might cause.
Having a pool cover gives a lot of benefits. When this happens, the cover may be ripped off or be completely damaged. To avoid this thing to happen, be sure that the cable and the winch are placed tightly and securely. You can also put pool clips to secure the proper position of the cover.
  • Protect the pool cover from the branches of the trees- Holes in your pool cover are caused by the tree branches that fall during the time that the pool is not in use. Avoiding this can be done in two things. First, you can hire tree specialists to cut any overhanging tree branches that may fall in your pool. Second, you can buy a pool leaf net that is place on the top of the pool cover. Leaf nets are especially made for that purpose.
  • Protect the pool cover from freezing water- During winter, the water in your swimming pool freezes especially when the right pool freezing precautionary measures are not done. This freezing water can greatly cause your swimming pool cover to be damaged. Pool covers are made durable and very tough but it still must be handle with care. To avoid the damage that freezing water may cause, you can use a heat pump. This heat pump will lessen the freezing water. It is best if you will wait for a warm day after the ice melts before you will pump off the water. It is not recommended to remove the ice because its sharp edges may cut your pool cover. You can also use a swimming pool heater to melt the frozen water before pumping it off.
  • Protect the pool cover from sagging- One thing to avoid the damage of your pool cover is by properly securing that it is placed tightly. Make sure that the safety cover springs are tight. Springs are important when installing a pool cover. Pool covers includes safety cover spring upon buying.
