Tinkerbell Costumes: From Toddler to Teen
|
|
Tinkerbell is probably the most famous fairy in history, made famous by the story of Peter Pan being told by Disney in various formats, from animated feature films to real live action films. In fact, Julia Roberts once took on the role of Tinkerbell and made quite a memorable fairy. For this reason Tinkerbell costumes are extremely popular for toddlers, children, teens and even adults.
For toddlers and children it is a blast to be able to dress up as a being that can handle magic and throw fairy dust on everyone and everything. After all, if you want to fly you need to believe and then throw in a little fairy dust for good measure. So, with all the Tinkerbell costumes available for children it is difficult to choose the perfect one for your wee one.
The general concept is the same with the dress being a green petal dress, then throwing in a pair of wings and a wand for good measure. In the story of Peter Pan, Tinkerbell is only a tiny fairy but this is one trait that cannot be mimicked in real life. However, the film does show Tinkerbell growing into human proportions but that is probably the only time Tinkerbell is that size.
In any case, we'll just have to pretend Tinkerbell is a human size fairy because there are no Tinkerbell costumes that can shrink you to the size of the original fairy. And if there were we certainly suggest you avoid them and in fact avoid the retailer all together for making such claims.
The Tinkerbell costumes that are designed for slightly older fairies are available in some interesting variations. Of course, you have the usual green petal dress, with the wings and the wand, but there is also an interesting alternative in the evil Tinkerbell costumes. These feature a red dress and horns alongside all the other accessories. Even though it isn’t a classic take on everybody's favorite fairy it still is an interesting twist.
At least you know for certain you won't look like anyone else at the party because most people are too used to the classic version to try anything new. In fact, you could create an endless number of variations on your own because it is difficult to believe that Tinkerbell doesn't have any other outfits and keeps on wearing only the same green dress.
For example, the Disney television series features Tinkerbell and a number of fairy friends, including Silvermist. These are all excellent ideas for Halloween costumes if you don't want to go for the classic Tinkerbell costumes. However, if you are going with your significant other to the Halloween party then it would be a bit of fun if he dressed up as Peter Pan and you went as a couple.
Of course, it would probably be a little more interesting if you went as Captain Hook and evil Tinkerbell. This variation on the classic would probably elicit more raised eyebrows but would also be a lot more fun.
