Thyroid Disorders in Men

Thyroid disorders leave an adverse impact on the men’s health. They firstly deteriorate the hormone production in the body. So, the less amount of the hormone testosterone is being produced, which results in the decrease in the sperms production. The fertility levels of the men are being destructed due the thyroid disorders. Low sperm count is noted commonly in the men suffering with the thyroid disorders.

Thyroid disorders that are most commonly observed are of two types, hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism. The hyperthyroidism occurs due the overactive thyroid and hypothyroidism occurs due to the underactive thyroid. Both these disorders put a consistent adverse impact on the health of the men, thus deteriorating their overall health status.

Thyroid disorders are commonly observed in the men. They are characterized by the disturbance in the hormone levels in the body. The thyroid is the largest endocrine gland in the body that participates actively in production of some of the hormones. The thyroid gland is the butterfly-shaped small gland located in the throat just below the Adam’s apple. The human thyroid plays a very important role in the energy consumption process and protein production. Thyroid problems that are commonly noted are overactive thyroid, underactive thyroid, and thyroid nodules. Out of these problems the first two are commonly observed, whereas thyroid nodules are noted to be occurring very rarely.

Hyperthyroidism occurs when they thyroid functions more rapidly and produce the unnecessary amount of the hormones and disturbs the other body process by consumption of the excessive energy. It occurs when the body’s immune system over stimulates the thyroid gland. Grave’s disease has been noted to be the common cause of the hyperthyroidism.

Hyperthyroidism affects the men’s health adversely. It gradually promotes the unconditional weight loss in the men. More frequent bowel movements are commonly noted in the men who suffer with the hyperthyroidism. Jittering, nervousness, lack of self-confidence, and tremors are noted as common symptoms among the men who have overactive thyroid. In serious cases it has been noted to put the impact on the functioning of the heart that results in the rapid heart beat or palpitation.

Other type of the hormone disorder is hypothyroidism that is caused when body’s immune system attacks the thyroid gland mistakenly. This way the normal functioning of the thyroid gland is being affected adversely that results in various health abnormalities. Constipation is commonly observed in the hypothyrodism patients. Even the excessive weight gain, fatigue, and lack of energy are other health abnormalities caused due to the underactive thyroid. This disorder is also called as the Hashimoto's thyroiditis.

Thyroid nodule is the disorder that is very rarely observed and is generally harmless. Very rarely these nodules get cancerous. They don’t put any serious impact on the health of the individual but if they get bigger then they distract the swallowing and breathing of the individual that may result into harmful consequences. In such a care doing surgery is advised to remove those nodules. It is just a 10 minutes surgery that can be done even by the general physician.

Reproductive health problems like impotence and coming too soon during love-making activity are also being geared up due to the thyroid disorders. Impotence problem occurs as the improperly functioning thyroid disturbs the blood supply to the male reproductive system. This way due to the insufficient blood flow the man is unable to attain the stiff state of the male reproductive organ thus giving rise to impotency. Even the nerves in the male reproductive system are observed to be loosed in the thyroid patients that make them prone to disease of ejaculating too quickly during the love-making. Thus, visit your doctor and get cured with the thyroid disorders if you want to stay away from these men’s health disorders.
